Gorkha Flood 2026 29 October 2026 Situation Bulletin 04 Situation Overview: On 11 October 2026 (25 Asoj 2083), a major debris-laden flood occurred in the Budhi Gandaki River basin of Gorkha District, following a large ice and debris avalanche in the upper catchment of Chumnubri Rural Municipality-6. Preliminary technical assessments indicate that debris accumulated at the confluence of the Ungdilung and Syar streams, causing temporary river blockages and subsequent outburst-like releases that generated multiple flood surges downstream. The flood caused extensive damage to settlements, bridges, hydropower infrastructure, roads, public facilities, and livelihood assets across northern Gorkha and downstream areas. According to the latest available information, the flood has affected 146 households, three hydropower projects under construction, two permanent bridges, one Bailey bridge, six suspension bridges, three vehicles, and Bikash Primary School in Ghattikhola, Chumnubri-3. Additionally, six residents remain still out of contact.
